Welcome to Celluloid Screams: The Sheffield Horror Film Festival!

Be afraid, be very afraid at the Showroom this Autumn as the cinema will be hosting the first ever Celluloid Screams Horror Festival with an entire weekend of blood-soaked cinematic thrills from 23rd – 25th October 2009.

Celluloid Screams has evolved as a regular feature in the Showroom programme since October 2008 combining the popular strand of classic and contemporary horror and cult film with sell-out screenings and special preview events with Horror film directors.

Bill Lawrence, Creative Director for Showroom is nurturing the festival programme at Showroom to build upon its success as a venue that supports new film making talent and gives the opportunity to see exciting films from around the world.

‘Celluloid Screams has been a success in the development of the Showroom programme and given us the chance to show some very imaginative films. With exciting developments in European horror film making - Let the Right One In is the most recent success – and a growing appetite in all ages to be scared, the time seems ripe to host a festival that celebrates these
extraordinary creative talents. How could we resist?’

Festival tickets will be on sale from September 1st when the line up of films and special guest speakers will be announced.

The Celluloid Screams festival team are also now accepting film submissions for the festival, for which there is no submission fee. Films should be sent on DVD to CELLULOID SCREAMS, Showroom Cinema, Paternoster Row, Sheffield, S1 2BX, United Kingdom. The deadline for submissions is July 31st 2009.
