Celluloid Screams: Sheffield Horror Festival 2010 - Programme Confirmed!

As the festival is almost upon us, we are pleased to announce the details of what's in store for Celluloid Screams 2010...

Our opening night kicks off with the astonishing Mexican cannibal flick WE ARE WHAT WE ARE, which is tipped to be this year's Let The Right One In.
The evening continues with the World Premiere of Greek reality horror film SUBCONSCIOUS from director Chris Petropoulos. Extremely tense and creepy as hell, SUBCONSCIOUS is a fine addition to the growing sub-genre of reality-based shockers and you will be the first audience in the world to experience it. Chris will be joining us to introduce the film and to take part in a Q&A afterwards.

Elsewhere over the weekend we have hungry French ghouls in THE PACK, we find out what happens when a documentary film crew infiltrates the shadowy world of Belgium's vampire community in VAMPIRES and Rounding out the main programme we have Hong Kong slasher opus DREAM HOME and undead epic THE REVENANT.

For the sAME Reason as last year (namely that it's a lot of fun to keep you guessing), the Celluloid Screams secret film returns for 2010. The film will be confirmed at the start of the festival, but keep an eye out for clues here and there in the run up. We also have one more new film to announce over the coming weeks...

In putting together our shorts programme, we have scoured the globe for the very best short-form shocks from the fearmakers of the future. An evil VHS-based clown, a demonic squirrel with a dastardly plan and a woman whose childhood fears raise their ugly head are just some of the treats in store...

Our classics programme this year includes Dario Argento's stylish giallo debut THE BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL
PLUMAGE, a 1980s guilty pleasure in the form of sci-fi horror CRITTERS and everyone's favourite demonic child, back on the big screen in Richard Donner's THE OMEN.

We are thrilled to announce that this year's guest of honour is none other than Catriona MacColl, star of Lucio Fulci's CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD, THE BEYOND and HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY. Catriona will be joining us for a 30th Anniversary screening of CITY including a Q&A and signing session.

Following on from last year's Rue Morgue Short Film Retrospective, we are delighted to present The Films of Robert Morgan. Regulars to Celluloid Screams may have seen THE SEPARATION and THE CAT WITH HANDS when we screened them before, so this will be your chance to see all of Robert's extraordinary work, including his new film BOBBY YEAH. We are also pleased to welcome Robert Morgan in person to Celluloid Screams to introduce his films and take part in a Q&A.

After the films on Friday, the newly refurbished Showroom Bar will be open late and given over to the Celluloid Screams opening night festivities. The bar will also be open throughout the festival weekend for food and drinks...

So there we have it, Celluloid Screams 2010 in a nutshell. There will be more news over the coming weeks as we reveal the final film to complete this year's lineup. Festival passes (priced at £50, guaranteeing you entry to every film and event across the weekend) are selling fast, so call 0114 2757727 to book yours... Individual tickets are available at regular prices.

In the meantime, we hope to see you at tonight's Best of Celluloid Screams 2009 screening...
